In this section of The Alive Gathering Ministries website, I would like to present to you some information and insights regarding our pastor and his wife.  Here you will read about Pastor Davis' ministerial training and background as well as how he founded The Alive Gathering Ministries.  We also want you to know a little about his wife, Faith, and how she and Pastor Davis met and married.  And, you will also be able to read how God came to Pastor Davis at a young age and healed him of a death-defying illness.

Pastor Richard Davis graduated from Faith School of Theology, Old Orchard Beach, Maine.  After graduation, God sent him to Teen Challenge, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he met his wife, Faith. Teen Challenge Center was established as a rehabilitation center for troubled youth.  Faith attended North Central Bible College, Minneapolis, Minnesota. Pastor Davis and his wife were married in 1969; they have one son, Jonathon.

Before establishing The Alive Gathering Ministries, Pastor Davis served as Music Director, Youth Pastor, Associate Pastor and Youth Music Director at Reality Gospel Church, Alexandria, Virginia.  During this time, he also was employed as a sales representative for a music company in College Park, Maryland.

Pastor Davis was first called by God while vacationing in The Bahamas to go back home and start a church, a spiritual hospital for hurting people, a safe harbor for those wounded along the path of life; God told him the gates of hell will not prevail against it.  Here it is over 18 years later, and God has stayed true to His word.  In 1988, Pastor Davis founded what is now called The Alive Gathering Ministries; services were held in a Fairfax County school cafeteria on Sunday mornings for the next 7 ½ years.  When the church began, there was no money, no building, just trust in the Lord that His will would be accomplished.  The first Sunday, 21 people were present.  The current membership has grown to 200 members. 

The following is a true story of how Pastor Davis was healed by God for a physical illness at a young age:

"I was raised by my grandmother because my parents were 13 and 14 years of age when I was born.  I was dying of stricture of the esophagus.  My throat was continually closing up from the time I was 8 years old until I was 13.

At the beginning of all this trouble, doctors told my grandmother I would not be able to live a full life.

Early on, my grandmother went before the Lord and said, 'You have to show me you are going to heal this child. You promised me he is going to become a preacher; that he is going to love people--He is going to pray for the sick and they will recover.  You are going to use him.  Now, give me a sign.  We are going to camp meeting.  My grandson is 8 years old, and I want him to be filled with the Holy Ghost and to speak in other tongues, as the Spirit gives him utterance.'

The Lord filled me with the Holy Ghost, and I could not speak English for three days.  The Lord told my
grandmother that no matter how sick I would become, I would not die.

At 4:00 one morning, the Lord came into my room, healed me, and set me free at 13 years old.  It is now a lot of decades later, and I am still healed. I am alive and well."
